About Us

Progressive Women’s Healthcare is a privately owned Obstetrics and Gynecology medical practice specializing in Midwife Care for women. We have three offices located in Metropolitan Atlanta. We are committed to providing outstanding healthcare to women.

Our mission is to improve the quality of reproductive care for all women and infants, by increasing awareness, support and access to compassionate and evidence-based options for pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding and women’s care.

Midwife means “with woman”

Midwifery is based on a philosopy of care that is centuries old. The focus is on prevention, education,& compassionate family centered care. Certified nurse-midwives (CNMs) are registered nurses who have completed graduate-level training in midwifery and have passed a national certification exam. Georgia mandates private insurance and Medicaid reimbursement for nurse-midwifery services.

Our Midwives can be found in a private hospital-based practice. Midwives approach birth as a normal, natural, healthy life event. When telling their birth stories, women who experience pregnancy and labor with midwives frequently use words such as empowering, wonderful, and unforgettable. With low-intervention births, midwives recognize that few women labor according to textbook guidelines. They know when it’s time to call for a physician’s consultation or step in with more aggressive measures. They also know when to suggest a simple change of position, and when to let nature take its course.

Finally, perhaps the greatest service a midwife can offer is to help make labor a joyful experience. Our CNMs provide primary care to women. We manage pregnancies and deliveries, with water birth option. The midwifery philosophy stresses respect for the woman as an active participant in her own healthcare and birth. Providing consultations of full measure for women or mothers-to-be to discuss their desires and concerns.

Midwives have good outcomes with fewer interventions. Surprisingly, many women are not aware that for a low-risk pregnancy (which most are), a midwife might be the best choice. Research has confirmed equal or better outcomes for midwife versus physician-assisted low-risk births, citing significantly lower rates of interventions such as induction of labor, rupture of membranes, episiotomies and cesareans.

We participate as providers with Medicare and Medicaid, most all commercial insurances and managed care plans providing the very best in comprehensive obstetrical and gynecological care for all of our patients in and around the community. Our physicians and staff are compassionate, respectful, experienced and dedicated to providing each patient with extraordinary care.

Our office is available for appointments 9:30am-5:30pm Monday-Friday. Walk-ins are accepted, but please when possible call in advance for the best appointment time.
